Opportunity cost

Opportunity cost is when you give something up for another thing. This weekend I went to wawa and had to choose between apple juice and a doughnut. I chose the apple juice over the dougnut. Another Opportunity cost i had this weekend was when i had to decide between going to my cousions wedding far away or sleeping in. I chose sleeping in over the wedding. I gave up things for something else. Its like trade between two things.

Childcare Bill

I voted Yay for the childcare bill. I am pregnant and i know that i would benefit from a daycare in community colleges. I think that mothers who have kids and can not afford daycare have no other choice, but have no job and suffer to get money. So many more teenage mothers and so many more mothers would have the chance to go to school and get an education for themselves. In the bill you would have to raise tax money, but i think that it is a very good reason to raise tax dollars and its going to a very good cause. This makes me more democrat for making and presenting this bill. I am more for the individual needs of the mothers and children not for the common good. Everyone teenage mother and mothers who can not afford daily daycare deserve to have a chance to get an education.

Mock Congress

In our class we are having a mock congress. Students are making there own bills and presenting them to the class to try to get it pass. Each student is part of a committee and the bills that everyone is making has to relate to the committee in which they are in. Also, each student had to chose a member of the House to pretend to be. Once the bills are passed they will go to the Senate. It is really intresting to see what everyone feels about certain bills and everyones ideas are really good and some bills should actually be in the real House.

My bill

My bill that I wrote is about Education. The bill makes it so every High school and Community College has daycare available to them. Teenage mothers who have babies while still attending high school less likely to complete high school because they have to stay home and take care of their children. It also would help mothers who are struggling with money and can not afford daycare on a daily basis. Day care cost a lot of money and so does going to school. So, if mothers could just bring there kids to school with them for free then they could go to school and get a job that pays more. High school students could benefit from having a daycare in high schools because they learn about children and how they develop and play. A lot more teen moms would graduate and there would be a lot more people who had jobs and were off welfare. It may cost a lot more and maybe we would have to raise taxes or do something to make more money in the schools to pay for it but i think its a very good bill and would work very well.
